A Very Handsome Pair of French Empire Period Gilt Brass Candlesticks, Circa 1820

 

Both showing reeded columns rising up from circular bases decorated by hand with finely chiseled motifs, to similarly addressed urn-shaped nozzles with detachable bobeches. Constructed in three sections, with the nozzle and column firmly attached to the base by means of a full-length threaded metal post. Both disassemble & reassemble easily & securely. Both in good condition & exhibiting a fine old patina overall, the reeded columns having various shallow dents, consistent with their age & use.
