Thalia, Greek Goddess of Comedy & Poetry

A fine 19th century allegorical bronze of Thalia, Greek Goddess of Comedy & Poetry, who was one of the nine Greek Muses and Goddess of Comedy & Idyllic Poetry, shown standing draped in classical attire holding a comedic mask by her side in one hand and a poem in the other, raised overall upon a stepped red marble plinth base. No apparent sculptor’s signature or foundry marks, but likely of French origin, demonstrating excellent proportions & finely chiseled details, exhibiting a fine untouched old patina overall. Overall height, 9.25”.
