Six 19th Century Japanese ‘Arita Hizen’ Imari Porcelain Lidded Bowls, Meiji Period (1868-1912)
Each bowl is raised upon a circular foot and richly decorated overall with hand painted enamels in a palette of cobalt, vermillion & gilt, depicting floral designs against alternating panels of cobalt & white beneath gilt latticework. All fitted with matching overlapping lids with raised circular knops centred by hand painted enamel & gilt marks for Arita Hizen. Their undersides decorated with a repeating band of geometric motifs in cobalt blue, one with Arita chop marks.
Dimensions, 2.5” high (3.75” with lids) x 4.75 diameter (5.25” with lids).
