Pair of 18th Century Georgian Bell-Metal Candlesticks, England Circa 1760

  • Pair of 18th Century Georgian Bell-Metal Candlesticks, England Circa 1760

A very handsome and relatively rare pair of 18th century bell-metal candlesticks, showing flaring seamed columns with cylindrical nozzles and flattened drip pans rising from stepped circular bases that retain their original and functioning push-rods. Both exhibiting a fine mellow patina overall, in very good condition with minor wear consistent with age & use, one very small (1/4”) split to one column, drip pans slightly bent. Bell metal is an alloy more closely associated with being a form of bronze moreso than brass, and as the name suggests it was used in the casting of bells, as well as fine quality decorative items such as candlesticks, and in some instances even cannons. Dimensions: H 9.75 in. x Dm 4.5 in.
