Gilt Patinated Iron & Bronze Occasional Table Attributed to Oscar Bach, Circa 1920  

Oscar Bach table, angled, top, frieze, feet.

The mottled marble top set within a foliate pierced bronze frieze interspersed by anthropomorphic masks, raised upon four writhen turned & gilt patinated iron supports topped with flambeau capitals, all braced by a conforming castellated stretcher, and terminating to gilt patinated paw shaped feet. Dimensions: 30” high x 18” wide x 13” deep.

Although apparently unsigned, the overall design components & materials of this table are un-mistakenly associated with works by Oscar Bruno Bach.

Oscar Bruno Bach (1884-1957) German / American, was one of the most highly skilled and commercially successful metalwork craftsmen of the first half of the 20th century. His designs expressed style elements taken from the Gothic & Baroque periods, as well as those of the Arts & Crafts and Art Deco periods. He was awarded the Grand Prize at the 1911 World Exposition in Turin for his design of a bed commissioned by Kaiser Wilhelm II, and in 1926 he received the Medal of Honour from the Architectural League of New York for both his designs & the high level of craftsmanship that he demonstrated in his manufacturing of industrial art.
