A very good early 20th century cigar humidor / smokers stand & bookshelf in oak by The Ferguson Brothers Manufacturing Company, located in Hoboken New Jersey from 1900 until they closed in1945. The stained oak case having a hinged lid decorated with a carved diamond shaped lozenge, opening to a white porcelain / milk glass lined interior with cedar trim, and retaining its original lock mechanism (key absent). The interior dimensions of the humidor measure 6" high x 10.25" wide x 6.5/8" deep (front to back). According to an online archival Ferguson Brothers catalogue, there was originally a 'moistener pad' (now absent) which was held in place by 2 metal clips located on the interior.
The base features a unique revolving drawer housing its original marbleized painted glass ashtray & twin plated cigar rests, which is designed to stop in the open position by means of a small sprung brass bead. Raised overall on twin carved supports braced by a V shaped book rack, the underside retaining its original metal factory makers plaque, noting model No. 4446.
The overall dimensions are 28.5” high x 13” wide x 10” deep. (The width & depth dimensions reflect those taken at the base).
