An Early 19th Century Trinket Box Painted in the Manner of Francois Boucher, Circa 1820
A very charming 19th century ivory trinket box showing a hinged lid decorated with a hand painted panel depicting ‘The Sleeping Shepherdess’ after a well known work by French artist Francois Boucher (1703 -1770). The sides decorated with a running band of hand painted floral designs within a gilded border. Areas of paint loss & early conservation noted.
