A Very Good 19th Century Gilt Brass Repeating Carriage Clock, France Circa 1890
The case showing stylized bamboo-shaped columns rising to a top with a scalloped edge, fitted with a swing carrying handle and featuring a plunger activated repeat mechanism. The white enameled face with blackened Roman numerals & pierced sweep hands, signed with retailer marks for Jackman & Son, Goldsmiths, Bath. The reverse showing a hinged glass paneled door fronting an 8 day movement striking the half & full hour, as well as the hour repeat feature, on a coil gong. In good working order accompanied with an associated key. Minor crazing to the bottom right corner of the enamel face.Dimensions, 6.25” high x 4.25” wide x 3.75” deep.
