  • A Very Fine Pair of Miniature Japanese Cloisonne Vases, Meiji Period (1868-1912)

Both hexagonal panelled bodies exquisitely decorated with multi-coloured enamels illustrating songbirds perched among flowering prunus, set against a deep indigo blue ground, and rising to waisted necks with brass trimmed rims. The level of craftsmanship & attention to detail is almost jewel-like, and although unsigned, their form, decoration & overall quality is extremely similar to examples from the workshop of noted Japanese cloisonne artist Hayashi Kodenji (1831-1915).
    Height, 5”.
