A Very Fine Pair of Louis XV Style Gilt Bronze Figural Candelabra, France Circa 1870

Each showing three foliate cast branches with tulip shaped nozzles & foliate cast drip-pans, rising from naturalistically sculpted mounds fronted by putti with finely chiseled features, raised overall atop pierced rocaille bases. Height, 13” to the centre nozzle, 16” (including flambeau finial).
The quality of the casting, gilding & finely chiseled features demonstrated in this fine pair of gilt bronze candelabra is exceptional, and although unsigned they bear very strong characteristics associated with those examples by French sculptor Victor Paillard (1805-1886)
