A Very Fine & Novel Sterling Silver Portable Cigar Holder / Ashtray by Asprey, Sheffield 1905
The basin interior showing a faint gilt wash, the exterior bearing hallmarks & makers marks for George & Charles Asprey. The underside of the basin fitted with a spring mechanism allowing it to be clasped either to the arm of a chair or the edge of a table. The spring mechanism also bearing impressed hallmarks and maker’s marks for George & Charles Asprey. Dimensions, 6” long. Weight 129 grams (4.14 troy ounces). In very good overall condition with a few very minor indentations, the spring mechanism remains sound and fully functional. A truly fine & unique smoking accessory / gift idea.
