A Very Fine & Heavy 19th Century Sterling Silver Mug / Tankard, Hallmarked London 1854
The body decorated overall with richly engraved & chased foliate detail, rising from a sculpted rocaille base to a flaring rim, affixed with a foliate inspired handle, the interior exhibiting an exceptionally fine gilded surface. The underside bearing full hallmarks & makers marks for Edward & John Barnard.
Weighing an impressive 384 grams (12.34 troy ounces). Height, 6” (base to thumbpiece).
An exceptionally handsome example and in excellent overall condition with no bruising, dents or repairs, very minor wear to the gilt wash consistent with age & use.
