    A Superior 18th Century Chippendale Period Inlaid Mahogany Tea Caddy, English Circa 1760


    The highly figured case having a cavetto-moulded top edged with contrasting light & dark wood trim and retaining its original brass bail handle, opening to an interior housing three original recessed canisters fitted with similarly decorated sliding lids – the central canister intended for blending, the two flanking canisters used for storing both black & green tea, raised overall upon four ogee bracket feet.
    Original locking mechanism intact. Dimensions, 6.5” high x 10.5” wide x 6.25” deep
    This very fine caddy demonstrates exceptional graining, colour & patina and remains in remarkable condition overall, consistent with its age & use.
