A Rare Miniature 17th Century Icon Triptych, Greek Ottoman Period (1453 - 1821)

A diminutive17th century Greek icon triptych, featuring a hand carved wooden case fitted with a pair of hinged panels opening to reveal an arched niche with hand painted images in egg tempura & gold leaf, depicting Saint Constantine (Konstantinos) & Saint Helen (Eleni) flanking the True Cross.

The interior surface of the hinged panels depicting the images of what are thought to be those of St. Haralambos & St. Peter.

Overall condition is as observed, noting surface wear, areas of loss to paint & foundation etc.

Dimensions (open), 3.1/8" high x 4.5" wide x .5" deep, (closed), 3.1/8" high x 2.25" wide x .75" deep.
