A Rare 17th Century German Silver Roemer by Reinhold Riel (1652-1686)

The globular body rising from a columnar stem atop a domed base, embossed & chased overall with foliate motifs, the interior exhibiting a fine gilt wash. The rim showing Tremolierstrich (zig-zag) scratch marks together with makers marks RR for Reinhold Riel and town mark N within a circular cartouche denoting Nuremberg. Height 4.5/8”. Weight 114 grams (3.7 troy ounces)
