A Mid 19th Century Spanish Colonial Santos of The Virgin of the Apocolypse, Circa 1850

 

The hand carved wood figure of The Holy Mother vanquishing the Apocalyptic Beast, shown standing over the Beast (Satan) pinning it down with one foot on its back, while impaling it with a spear (absent), her opposing hand holding the remnants of an open Bible. Decorated overall with hand painted polychrome & gilt detail over gesso, mounted upon a shaped plinth wood base.

Measuring, 8” high x 4” wide x 3.25” deep.
