A Large 19th Century Chinese Famille Rose Enamelled Porcelain Basin, Late Qing Dynasty
The deep welled interior decorated with hand painted enamels of flowering vines & fowl, rising to a flattened rim decorated with a running band of enamelled flower blossoms & scrolls, one minor flake to the rim. The exterior decorated with designs of bamboo sprigs in coral red, symbolic of the virtues of bamboo in Chinese culture, that of resistance, modesty & loyalty. The underside unmarked but likely Guangxu Period (1875-1908). Dimensions, 4.25" high x 14.25" diameter.
