A Japanese Hardwood Netsuke of a Kappa & Toad, Taisho Period (1912-1925)
An amusing hand carved hardwood netsuke depicting the figures of a Kappa (water sprite) and a toad arm wrestling atop a lotus leaf, their eyes inset with horn cabochon pupils, signed on the underside in red characters on an ivory medallion. Measuring ¾” high x 2.25” wide.
