A Highly Inspired Pair of 19th Century Silver Plated Wine Coasters / Slides, Sheffield Circa 1850

Both coasters showing exceptionally robust, cast motifs of grape clusters & vinery cascading over pierced bodies bearing impressed maker’s marks for Roberts & Slater, rising above turned wooden bases centred by plated roundels. Both in excellent overall condition. Dimensions, 2.75” high x 5” diameter.

The firm of Samuel Roberts & Joseph Slater produced wares of a very high order, however they were in production for a relatively short period of time (1845-1858), consequently examples of their fine work are seldom found, making this particular pair of handsome coasters something of a rarity.
