A Handsome 19th Century Mahogany Kneehole Desk, England Circa 1850
The finely constructed case showing a figured & crossbanded top over an arched frieze, flanked on either side by twin banks of 4 graduated drawers, their fronts showing cock-beaded moldings, original escutcheons & locks and later brass backplates & bail handles, raised overall on molded plinth bases with original recessed wood castors, one replaced with a brass example. In very good overall condition, exhibiting fine timbers, color & proportions. Dimensions, 29.5” high x 36” wide x 21.25” deep.
In addition to its functionality, this handsome and diminutive kneehole desk is also of very accommodating proportions, making it quite suitable for placement either at the top of a landing, inside a foyer or in a hallway.
