A French Empire Style Marble Topped Mahogany Pier Table, Circa 1840

 

The later white marble top over a frieze decorated with neoclassical inspired ormolu mounts, surmounted by a pair of robust & finely carved monopodia supports terminating to lion’s paw feet fronting a mirrored back. Raised overall upon a highly figured, conforming mahogany plinth base. Dimensions, 37.5” high x 44.75” wide x 18.5” deep.
