A Finely Carved Japanese Boxwood Tea Leaf Scoop Netsuke, Meiji Period (1868-1912)
Finely carved in the shape of a furled leaf, terminating to a finial in the form of a crouching Kappa (water sprite), its eyes inset with horn cabochon pupils, the underside of the scoop naturalistically detailed with a carved leaf vein & a burrowing insect. Exhibiting a finely grained surface with a warm patina overall. Signed in characters. Measuring 4” long.
