A Fine & Rare Early 19th Century ‘Fused Plate’ Lidded Soup Tureen, France Circa 1830
The circular body fitted with a conforming lid and retaining its rarely found original liner, raised overall upon a stepped circular spreading foot. Both body & lid bearing an engraved coat of arms (possibly for Richard) surmounted by a Marquess coronet. The bases underside bearing impressed makers marks & town mark for Marseilles and the word ‘PLAQUE’ (French term for plated items).
