A Fine Art Deco Period Silver & Guilloche Enamelled Pill Box by Marius Hammer

The disc-shaped case decorated in stunning deep crimson guilloché enamel and fitted with a hinged lid with a silver rim. The gilded interior of the lid bearing impressed makers marks for well known Norwegian artist Marius Hammer & silver marks noting .930 silver purity, opening to reveal a white enamelled interior. In extremely good overall condition with only one very minor flake near the hinge. Dimensions, 2 5/8” diameter x 7/8” high.

Marius Hammer (1847-1927) was one of Norway’s most illustrious silversmiths whose firm & works were represented in Liberty of London's Christmas catalogues in the late 19th century. After retiring in 1915, Hammer’s firm continued producing high quality enamelwork up until 1930 under the supervision of his two sons.
