A Fine 19th Century Georgian Style Inlaid Mahogany Tantalus, U.K. Circa 1860
A very handsome and finely proportioned 19th century inlaid mahogany Tantalus in the form of a Georgian side cabinet, showing a richly figured & finely constructed mahogany case with an ebonized strung top & cabinet doors, fitted with a functioning locking mechanism & key, opening to an interior fitted for 3 decanters and raised overall on a base showing a carved serpentine apron braced by 'French' bracket feet. Remnants of an old paper label referencing 'Punch' affixed to the interior surface of the base. Dimensions, 14.5” high x 16.75” wide x 6” deep.
(The design & form of this particular Tantalus appears to be quite unique if not rare, in that I have found no other examples either past or present to compare it to). Please contact us by either phone at
