A Baroque-Revival Terracotta Patinated Bust of a Noblewoman, Circa 1870

A large and finely modelled terracotta patinated plaster portrait bust of an 18th century noblewoman, possibly the Comtesse du Barry (1743-1793). Shown attired in a lace edged bodice, her hair cascading in long tresses across both shoulders. Demonstrating excellent proportions & fine features, raised upon a molded socle base.
