18th Century Italian Coastal Landscape of The Grand Canal, Dated 1736

A highly atmospheric work depicting merchant vessels on the banks of what appears to be the Grand Canal in Venice. 18th Century Italian School, spuriously signed Canaletto bottom right and dated 1736. Oil on canvas, nailed onto board and backed with canvas, affixed to what appears to be its original 18th century stretcher, set within a later part ebonized and giltwood frame. Canvas dimensions, 12.5" high x 21" wide, framed dimensions, 20" high x 28" wide.
